      The counseling center is a free service offering personal and career counseling. It is a teaching facility for the Counselor Education Program at Oakland University. Counselors are graduate students who integrate counseling theory with practice, as well as provide surplices professional counseling assistance to persons at no cost. The counseling center graduate students offer caring, confidential counseling in the following areas time management, test anxiety and study skills, life transitions, anxiety, stress management, self esteem, grief and loss, relation ship issues, career counseling, situational depression, assertiveness training, communication skills, separation form loved ones, adolescent behavior, Autism support for children and parents, and others.       TTI is a board-operated, private, not-for-profit organization incorporated in 1987. The agency provides a variety of services for persons having developmental disabilities, emotional impairments, and mental illness. TTI is under contract with Oakland County government mental health services. TTI provides comprehensive mental health services that promote dignity, empowerment, independence, belonging, and employment advocacy. Services are provided by professionally trained staffs that are culturally competent and ethnically sensitive. 
      For St. Vincent de Paul volunteers, it is sufficient to understand that TTI is a comprehensive mental health and advocacy group, which serves the mentally/ emotionally impaired persons in out community. It is not within our capability or purview to diagnose "specific" needs of our clients but simply to act as a conduit to refer or connect out clients with TTI community.

      OFFICE OF RECIPIENTS RIGHTS

      The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has created a booklet called "Your Rights Handbook" for those receiving Public Mental Health Services in the state of Michigan. When you receive mental health services, Michigan's Mental Health Code and other laws safeguard your rights.  If for some reason you feel those rights have been violated, the Office of Recipients Rights is the office that you need to contact.

      Grace Centers of Hope 

      A program in Pontiac that is free. It is a Christian/Evangelical ministry. It includes housing, counseling, 12-step meetings, working in their thrift store.  Usually, when you call they always say they are full. We encourage people to call daily to show they are committed to the program. Anyone state-wide could apply.
