FREE OR LOW COST LEGAL AID

Free Legal Answers 
Free Legal Answers is a virtual legal advice clinic offered by the American Bar Association's Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service.  Qualifying users post their civil legal question to their state's website.  Users will then be emailed when their question receives a response.  Attorneys will not answer criminal law questions.



Lakeshore Legal Aid 
Lakeshore Legal Aid is a not-for-profit law firm providing a range of free civil legal services to people who are low income and seniors in our communities.
 

Common Ground Legal Clinics
Attendees receive free consultations, informed recommendations, and referrals from volunteer licensed attorneys. First come, first served. No appointment necessary. Please

Elder Law of Michigan Services

 
LHMS - Legal Hotline for Michigan Seniors (60 years and older) For seniors age 60       and older needing legal advice, Elder Law of Michigan will assistance free of charge to Michigan seniors and those with disabilities. Make your one call for help to Elder Law of Michigan at 800.347.5297.  

MAPRP - Mid-American Pension Rights Project
There are no age or income requirements. There is no charge for our service. If you need help finding your pension or retirement income, call the Mid-America Pension Rights Project at 866.735.7737.  


HRCMI - Housing Rights Center of Michigan Housing Counseling Program helps resolve issues related to mortgage foreclosure, property tax foreclosure, reverse mortgages, and landlord/tenant problems. These counselors are also attorneys, and are able to provide education, housing counseling and legal advice. There is no age or income requirement to participate, and all services are offered free of charge. Call 877-452-8529 


MiCAFE - Michigan's Coordinated Access to Food for the Elderly MiCAFE is a program of Elder Law of Michigan that provides benefit application assistance to seniors age 60 and older, helping them make ends meet and put healthy food on their table. Call 877-664-2233

Justice for Our Neighbors -- The United Methodist Community on Relief (UMCOR)
Provides free legal advice, counsel and immigration representation on a range of immigration legal issues to immigrants with a household income at or below 200% of the poverty line. Legal issues include: adjustment of status, naturalization, family-based petitions, petitions for victims of domestic violence and other crimes. JFON does not handle detained cases, employment based immigration cases, or criminal based immigration cases.

Four intake clinics are hosted monthly in Dearborn, Detroit, Pontiac and Ypsilanti. JFOC operates by appointment only. To schedule an appointment please leave a message at (734) 709-1151 and your call will be returned.
